Reading the CEO update, I still am skeptical as to why they would partner with a glasses-free TV manufacturer.
Their technologies are entirely different from start to finish.
Their offerings are wholly different.
Their markets are quite different.
The flat screen company is producing most likely a variation on those 3d cracker-jack pictures you'd get as a kid. (lenticular parallax).
Stereoscopic images, have no vertical motion, contain a limited number of views (typically 2), require each eye to focus on the surface of the screen.
More importantly, 3D Flat screens are not doing well with consumers.
I do not see this as a positive step forward, but as a huge resource waster.
At least the letter states they are having progress in the brightness of their original volumetric technology. If they give up volumetric technology, then I'll sell and end my multi-year wait.
