It's also an overt, albeit not blatant, message to FDA, saying 'come on guys, clear this thing already'.

True, it is not scientific, nor controlled, however it does indicate that public opinion is favorable for the products. This of course does nothing to speed clearance, but is a pin prick in the ass of the FDA saying to hurry the @#$% up, IMHO.
