most company's go private because controlling shareholders think they can eventually do better than a public valuation, want to avoid scrutiny and regs, and generally don't care about minority shareholders. your buy-out example is just that, a buy-out, whether company private or public. often management and boards screw minority holders with a modest buy-out premium while they have either a pre-arranged higher deal in the offing or wait it out til next cycle since they have the deep pockets. it is nonsensical for CTDH to do this now. they are just beginning to scale multiple applications where there is the most market appreciation in the life cycle of a company. value wins out; doesn't matter where you are listed at this stage. this is just the beginning of a very extended uptrend for this company.
