I'm thinking the car didn't get going fast enough for them to have cooked the brakes had they tried. They said they had trouble keeping up with it in a helicopter that could do 100 mph. My guess would be something like 150 mph. I think it was a 67 or 69, which has the aerodynamics of a brick. And so heavy that even a 3000-horse rocket engine would have its work cut out for it accelerating it from 80 to anything higher.

I love Monster Garage, too. And the projects have gotten more sophisticated as the season has progressed. Helps when the show's increasing popularity means the team can get things like a freebie engine from Jegs.

I'm really looking forward to the day I can start doing up weird projects. High on my list are things like adding electric assist motors to my truck to increase its fuel economy, and putting a 3-cylinder Yanmar diesel in a Geo Metro (with electric assist motors) and see what kind of fuel mileage it can get.

The workshop is pretty much done and whenever it's warm enough, I've been in there adding lights and outlets. Hopefully I can actually start using it this summer.
