I have a hard time understanding why Calypso has been so isolated myself. It seems as though every other company working in this space has teamed up with multiple other companies.

stitch_surfs - thanks for your information.

you wrote:"This is something that has puzzled me, actually. If Calypso is intent on deploying ASNAP as a ubiquitous standard, why did they not participate in 3GPP and have a hand in drafting the specifications?"

when i first got into CLYW and they relesed a PR stating that they had "joined Wi-Fi Alliance" i checked it out. WFA, as you know is the UL of Wi-FI industry. they conduct various standards for interoperability of a product within the wireless industry. so i contacted WFA via e-mail and asked point out if CLYW was in fact a member ? the answer was yes. but,...i continued,...i then asked if CLYW had submitted a product for review ? the answer was no. i contacted WFA two other times and CLYW had not submitted product for review.

now that speaks volumes to me. similar to your observation of not participating in 3GPP.

why would a company who susposedly has the revolutionary break-though they claim to have not lay down the standard through a WFA seal of approval or 3GPP drafting specifications and guidelines ?

the answer appears obvious. they have no product to set that benchmark of a obiquitous standard. all the have is a patent that theoritically operates but has got no actual real-world application.
