I suppose the reason for my reaction is the length of time I have been invested. I was used to little or no institutions and a shareholder base comprised mostly of individuals. This model has changed over the years as institutions have come on board and the management and BOD have acquired or been issued options. I know that the institutions are going to vote to sell if a recommendation is offered. I also know that management will receive additional incentives along with the price offered for their shares and they will be easy votes. Thus, my only protection is the individual shareholder base.
My fear is the same that Jacobs and Gates had and dodged. I feel like I have developed IDCC along with the employees and I naturally want to see what is behind door number 3. Maybe my wording was a little strong, but my fear is even stronger.
I am also a realist and understand that I cannot stop those who have been in the stock for a short period of time, win a nice hand and wish to cash out. This happens in the poker game of life.
I cannot tell you if a buyout is actually good or bad and if my preference gets voted out, the matter is mute anyway. I have had an agenda for this investment for years, and a buyout before a true evaluation is possible is completely contra to same.
What will be, will be, the future is not ours to see.
