According to the independent study, Qcom is the strongest in the sector in W-CDMA IPR. IDCC has a much smaller IPR base.

Having the patents is only part of the issue. IDcc has a problem collecting cash for them without years of delays with court and arbitration battles. Having to fight for every cent is what is killing us. The outcome is not always certain and payment is delayed.

You can start your DD by researching the IDCC vs. Lucent litigation..While Lucent has a huge IP portfolio inherited from Bell Labs and their cross licensing with Qualcomm..they may well be some cdma2000 IP short as per IDCC's Court proceedings..Perhaps some of the Techies can assist you in your Patent research..While IDCC has had some trouble in the past monetizing their IP..perhaps they can get some boost from a Federal Judge..

loophole73 - I share your frustrations about the misinformation posted by some posters. My point is that the institutions need to take a closer look at idcc, then they should see that there is another significant investment opportunity in cdma. An award by the court to confirm what the arbs decided should raise awareness among industry peers and institutional investors. I think things are looking up, the selling by those who were disapointed that the stock did not soar after the arb decision is drying up. It appears ready to inch forward. I'm trying to be constructive, if someone can point out what patents that idcc has that qcom doesn't then that would be useful info. For example, I'm not technical but I think idcc is stronger in w cdma than qcom is.
