For every 8.3 pounds of plastic, about one gallon of fuel is produced, according to a company called Plastic2Oil.
Zecca pointed out that for farmers who pay tipping fees to bring their plastics to the landfill, the program would allow them to get rid of the plastics for free.
There is a facility in Niagra Falls already taking advantage of the process and one is planned in Solvay, Zecca said. The county may be able to partner with Solvay for the initiative since the county already takes its paper to a facility there, he said.
The plastic-to-fuel initiative would be in-line with the county’s long-term goal of keeping plastics out of the landfill, Zecca said.
I've been watching out of one eye, LOL. Did there show up conversation and/or rumor about where the 1st site was going to be?
I recall the info on the public meetings and the excellent report that the decks were all cleared. Straight ahead in whatever county they intend to be in.... that was what I got out of it, but I must have missed the refered to rumor that apparently named a location..
