Thanks for a very informative post. I will be looking into
mineral investments ( other than gold) soon. I want to hold
a few hundred shares of AVL as a hedge for any unexpected
changes by the Chinese, as I feel they are fully aware of
the reliance of the West on their RE. Most of the RE that
was stockpiled has been exhausted during the price spike
last spring. If the economy improves and the Thais and
Japanese recover from their disasters, and the South
Koreans are not attacked by the new junior madman to
their north, demand alone may spike RE stocks.
The IRS requirement for one year ownership to qualify
for long term Capitol gain also may enter in for some.

AVL as a takeover target is more likely. Upside from that announcement would be enormous.
