Could this move by AAPL motivate GOOG to take another stab at IDCC?

Does GOOG need IDCC more now that AAPL has strengthened their position?

Anyone see this happening?

It's not like GOOG does not have the funds. Surely GOOG could team up with INTC and Samsung.

I'm not smart enough to understand if GOOG and potential partners have a need for IDCC if AAPL is not interested.

Gabeh

The stronger that patent portfolio is the more powerfull your demands can be and sure harder for others to beat you. Who do you think can break Apple down when they are infringing what Apple owns and Apple has by far more and stronger patents? Lets just think of how many machine to machine dollars can be brought in over the years. We don't know what the revenues will be if the video compression is implemented. What we do think we know is that the IDCC rate for LTE 4G will be a whole lot higher than the 3G rate was and is.

I think the 3G rate will be higher for the remaining unlicensed and those that didn't renew. Nokia will owe a boat load and how much Motorola will owe if IDCC ever sues them is a lot I would think. IDCC is now going after the base station money which means all who make base stations should owe IDCC money the amount is what none of us know but it should be substantial and one would think a pretty high rate.

How would any of you feel if you was Google, Samsung, HTC, ZTE, Huwaei, or Motorola to name a few and Apple bought IDCC for whatever the ultimate price would be? Do you think Apple would say we own all these patents but we just wanted to say we had them or do you think they will be going after all these companies and not for chump change.
