In my view, there is very little difference between a STANDARD recommended by the NIST and a mandate when that standard is adopted by the DoD.

In both cases, it is required although there may not be enough oversight (not enough money create jobs) to enforce it.

How ironic that we are flirting with $2 again while it's here.

Now, we just have to avoid the competition which WILL be created by a NIST "recommendation."
