What I believe are the two dimensions to the Wave/Samsung Relationship

1) Wave also announced today that it will provide services, software and marketing to Samsung as part of Samsung's plans to enable semiconductor capabilities in its PC, tablet and consumer device product lines.

-Here Wave is said to provide TC solutions for Samsung's own product line.

2) "We look forward to providing Samsung's OEM customers the ability to turn on, manage and leverage the Trusted Platform Module with Wave's software, to deliver stronger security for end-users and better protection for their critical data," said Brian Berger

-Here Wave is said to provide TPM solutions for Samsung's OEM customers. So who exactly are these OEM customers? Dell, Acer, Asus (not such a big deal, Wave is already there)? HP (now that would be good news)? Apple (would be great as well)? Lenovo? Who exactly are we talking about here?

Foam, in reference to your question as to whether we're "looking potentially at inroads into Samsung's product line (tablets, handsets etc) and in addition to that Wave's product on TPMs from Samsung aimed at PCs," the narrative in yesterday's PR alludes to both. While the technical focus was on Samsung's work with semiconductors, specifically TPMs "designed for OEM distribution," they also made clear reference to "tablet and consumer devices" in the heading.

So I would say, yes, we are looking at inroads into Samsung's product line for tablets and handsets, and not just for Samsung. The fact that the PR references semiconductor solutions throughout may indicate that we're looking at chip level collaboration more than merely end-product level. This would lead to greater and faster penetration into the broader ecosystem for multiple platforms and OEMs. Right now I'm just wondering if we'll be hearing something regarding a connection with ARM and their TrustZone architecture in all of this. They, as we know, will also be moving into the PC space and along with Wave could ultimately play a major role in the integration of multiple trusted endpoints.

Samsung recognizes the power of trusted computing, and this move will empower partners and customers with new, silicon-based means to provide trusted hardware on numerous platform types in the coming years.

Samsung is a global leader in advanced semiconductor solutions, combining cutting-edge designs, advanced manufacturing processes and quality, and innovative packaging technology to deliver a broad portfolio of semiconductor solutions including security chips for smart cards and NFC-enabled mobile devices.
