stockhocker: I've been thinking on that very issue since I realized that pxd most likely is not holding the price down due to legal ramifications, etc, and I have another possibility that has not yet been mentioned that I think is pretty plausible:

What about the investment house that the buy-innee has most likely been talking to? They would have known for some time now enough information to salivate. They most likely have mm's in their back pocket (or they are one)... schb has been boxing the bid/ask almost continuously since awards, at least whenever I look at L2 they're there. And don't tell me that they have scruples........or give a care about the sec or common shareholder. lol

stockhocker - I laughed for nearly a minute after reading this line from your post.
Obviously, the major US shareholders (Nugent, Wilson, Mongo, who else?), know about the offer?

This has been a battle for information control and/or suppression for a while. Barry Morgan's article opened up the cookie tub.

I believe the accumulators have finished their accumulating, based in part on the recent low volume and the fact that the bashing on RB has come from the daytraders and underinformed. The "pros" have been quiet...and that's because they're all in, I believe.

So, if the accumulator has loaded up...they have no reason to keep a lid on it anymore. That's not to say that others might pick up where they left off.

Stock,

Great points.

However, the reason for the leak, is that there is more than one knocking on the door.

Now, can you see the purpose of the leak???

Very interesting!

SH, "Some of us thought it could be Offer to get better financing terms. If he leaked the buyout news, that would certainly not be consistent."

Not consistent? Not at first glance, but how 'bout this?

Upon awards, Offor instructs the troops to make sure to let the run start up a bit to get people going (hit .77) then kill it (great success there, I'd say they destroyed it.) How? Dump a few million offshore shares (Chrome, Caymans) up there and buy them and more back all the way down to the high-thirties. Now he's accumulated a bunch more very cheap shares which he can use as ammo with whatever suitor for an all-out purchase (unlikely) or majority stake. Simply leak the info about the offer and the other possible suitors will try to outbid each other. Meanwhile, the SP goes up, so whether or not he sells he ends up making another killing...

Just a thought. Gotta run.
