Plugger, thanks

Wouldn't you be able to get an LSA cert and go.

It's possible. I haven't looked into it. I'm not certain that I couldn't get my medical back. In 2001 I got a stent although I did not have a heart attack. I've never had any symptoms at all. The 75% blocked LAD was discovered when I was getting a medical to clear me for the knee replacement procedure.

I'm probably daydreaming. Miss my plane(s). Haven't flown since Dec 18, '95. I'd probably kill myself and whomever else was on board in some tough IFR. I've got 3300 hours (over 25 years), plenty in the soup (and ice), but the reactions are clearly slower. Senior here. Still probably safer than on the interstate - in West Texas the speed limit is eighty on I-10.

Like all pilots I've been in some jams, but scraped by. Never bent the aluminum even though 3 forced landings and a siezed engine in Colorado where aluminum plated (by airplanes) mountains are not uncommon. Worst was trying to squeeze between a couple of cells and got into a cat4 dark sonufagun. Geeze! Bellanca Viking with spruce main spars. I kissed 'em back on th' ground. Closest was probably a near miss by a 707 approacing Hobby in the '60's. I was a student (solo) VFR and the guy flew in from the west across Hull Field at no more than 2K agl. Heart in throat.
