Nowlurking......re HDTV....I saw the LG set next to a Sony plasma, and the LG LCoS demolished it. I have personally never seen a more beautiful TV image. It seemed almost 3-D and just sucked me into the picture, as if it were a window looking onto the beach, or into an actual coral reef. (I SCUBA-dive, and this picture looked as if I were right there). It looked great from 45 degrees, and black was jet black. Colors were intense. I have many contacts who have seen the JVC and they all say it is nowhere near as nice as the LG, but I have not seen them side by side myself. I have read analyst report saying the LG LCoS is much nicer than the DLP units. I hear the new SONY LCoS is equally terrific, but it is proprietary and will be much more expensive imo. I am sure it also is a beautiful unit. Spatialight is IMO in the nice position of selling bullets to whatever army needs ammo in a war. All of the big TV manufacturers IMO plan to offer LCoS by next year (with the possible exception of Samsung), and outside of SONY's proprietary technology and the (imo lesser quality) JVC.....Spatialight LCoS chips are the only game in town so far. They took years to develop. I dont consider BRLC to be a big competitor, since they make the entire box, and have no major OEM and likely can not scale. Who will Panasonic, Toshiba, etc use?? Who makes Hitachi's chipset for their LCoS TVs coming this fall? "We will know in the fullness of time." All IMO.
