I believe Paul is working it hard. It's a process. Each party doesn't want to give away anymore than they have to and each party wants to protect as much of their position as possible. Some hard negoiating must be going on here.

Hopefully, both men are maintaining common sense and showing respect and kindness to each other. They need to exit with an agreement and a good working relationship intact.
