#14837 RE: Brad S #14835

You realize the CEO tried using a restaurant in an upscale area to promote the company? The restaurant quickly closed, mainly due to the meat itself. Apparently most of the side dishes received good reviews but most turned up their nose at the meat.

Okay. I am sorry about this review because I really want local businesses to thrive, but I do not see that this place can. Let me start with the positives. We came in and were immediately greeted, and allowed to sit anywhere (considering there was only one other table taken on a Saturday night, this was a bit of a concern). We were asked if we had been there before, and when they found out we had not been, they brought us a taste of their baked beans. They were delicious. The restaurant is very pretty. The waitress was very courteous, but maybe a tiny bit overanxious to clear away plates.

The cons are unfortunately the food. The portions are not very big. My husband had the tri tip. There were about 8 or 9 very thinly sliced pieces. They looked a bit dry, and considering he was dipping them into his baked beans, I would think they were quite dry. I ordered the smoked trout fillet, but they no longer carry it. I had the smoked salmon with fig balsamic glaze. I ate about 5 bites, but it was so dry, and not particularly tasty, so I gave up. My sweet potato fries had remarkably little flavor. My take on the salmon and the tri tip is it is reheated, and not vary well. My daughter had the baby back ribs. I took at tiny taste. They were not all that tender, and had too much sauce on them.

So, for a restaurant that is supposed to be about the flavorful smoked meats, I have to say, "Methinks not."

Also, I read the blurb on all the tables about the creation of the restaurant and am totally confused. I think it says that the restaurant's purpose is to showcase Smoky Meat's packaged foods. I think that is very odd. Like a Campbell's Soup or Oscar Meyer restaurant?

Anyway, I would pass if I were you.
