Thanks for that explaination of the political picture there. That's very helpful in understanding what's happening. It appears Martinelli is trying to get some laws changed to make his situation more workable and like you say the mining law has become part of the "political football" being kicked around.
I agree with you that Martinelli most likely needs to approach the situation in a slow and easy way, not like he did with law #8. Give the Indians what they want if that will keep them happy and docile.
CM, what's your take on the general attitude of the population in regards to mining? Whenever I read the comments on an article about mining or Petaquilla in La Prensa or elsewhere, there are always a number of disparaging remarks to take into account, which makes me think the industry is not very popular in Panama.
