This makes it sound like ticker symbols have a life of their own, unconnected to the people running them. But companies, whether real or just pumped shells, are actually run by people. And the people who ran this (into the ground, btw), and the entity itself, are the ones who are now being held accountable by the justice system. Not just an SEC slap-on-the-wrist here. This was a Justice Dept/FBI sting specifically targeting these guys and this company, SFIO. The government is flat-out calling it a fraud. So how serious do you think this "company" ever was? It was dead serious about one thing, sucking investors dry.
And the people that remain behind to run this were working side-by-side with these busted scammers. Anyone think the other people in this company didn't know what was up? Come on, we're not talking Enron here. It's a little garage-shop operation, right? No sweeping new management change has taken place. It's the same crew, just beheaded.
SFIO is a no-brainer all right. It takes very little thought to realize that it is going nowhere.
