dmiller, the market does see it. They currently think that the price will be in the $3-3.5 billion range. Many of us here think it will be higher.
You and I both are frustrated by this quick move down, but the move up had as much to do with short covering as it did with speculation that the deal was done and was going to get announced immediately.
That was my thinking and I bit on a few extra shares as a result.
If Google is offering Pi once again, then IDCC is worth ~$68.50/share to them. My hope is that Apple and others won't allow it to go that cheaply. Many of us here believe that the board won't allow such a buyout price.
My minimum has been and continues to be $85/share (~$4 billion). This presumes that the Nortel price was a fluke or that some of their patents in other areas have far more value than we currently understand. I agree with you that anything over $100 is a very good win, but I'm like everyone else and I'm hoping for some number that exceeds $150/share.
The waiting is the hardest part, isn't it?
How's that for rational thought? Don't look for it from me again anytime soon.
