..."Artificial neuron is a synthesized nerve impulse or action potential....A series of synthetic action potentials carrying the "non-pain" message which is recognized by the brain. These are all transmitted via C-fbers(sic) which are the slow fibers for carrying information. "????...and that entire explanation is so unbearably stupid that it doesn't merit rebuttal...even ignoring how on earth the brain would recognize a "non-pain" signal!...NEVERTHELESS, a brief lesson in neuroscience...

...try to understand that c-fibers respond to ONLY ONE THING -- the output of the nociceptor that they innervate...this paper presents a nice discussion of chronic pain:

http://www.medscape.org/viewarticle/521494_3

...look his third slide and notice that there are NO "zap" nociceptors...no "zap" receptors means NO stimulus of a c-fiber can result due to zapping except that coming from muscle twitches and heat generation...and even if there were a zap receptor, how on earth would anyone be able to figure out what constitutes a "scrambled signal" to the nociceptor?...that ALONE would merit a Nobel prize...nociceptors are complicated; their response -- i.e. the release of a neurotransmitter that triggers an action potential in the c-fiber -- varies according to the frequency and intensity of the noxious stimulus...consequently, trying to conjure up an admixture that would it would interpret as "scrambled" would be nigh impossible...

...have you noticed that at no point does Marineo ever explain how he arrived at what constituted a "scrambled signal"...indeed, what experiments did he do to arrive at WHATEVER signals he generates?...HOW does he know these PARTICULAR signals represent "scrambled" signals?...did he just conjure them out of thin air and then just go out and start zapping people?...and not just zapping people, but SUCCESSFULLY (allegedly) zapping people to the extent that he was able to relieve 90% of their pain?...do you REALLY believe that he came up with this gizmo and had it work -- so it appears from his papers -- near miracles from day ONE with NO history of trial and error and consequent mistakes, failures, etc???...

...there's a REASON why REAL neuromodulators REQUIRE implantation adjacent to the nerve they're supposed to block...the thing has to be right up against it in order that the applied voltage difference is sufficient to affect transmission of pain signals...

...Marineo has this absolutely bizarre idea that neurons are like telegraph wires that he can just tap in a message and get the brain to modify its behavior...he's nuts...plain and simple...just what you'd expect from someone who's claims to be a "MD, PhD" on Monday, an "MD,DSc" on Wednesday, a "PhD" on Friday and who knows what he pop up claiming come Sunday!...

Unmitigated nonsense., and gobbledook.

Consult any neuroscientist you wish.

..."BTW, I cringed when I read it."?????...oh, me too!...me TOO!...I tell you:

"Here is the way is was explained to me:

Artificial neuron is a synthesized nerve impulse or action potential. This is what is created by the scrambler (Calmare). A series of synthetic action potentials carrying the "non-pain" message which is recognized by the brain. These are all transmitted via C-fbers(sic) which are the slow fibers for carrying information.

Hope it is helpful to you,

...why, clear as mud, Jean!...

...but in his last paper, at least Marineo finally figured out that if he stimulates a c-fiber, then the c-fiber ultimately stimulates a portion of the the brain that only knows how to say, "Ouch! Something HURTS!"...

...poor ol'Joe seems to have had the notion that nerves were like little telephone wires and that he could just dial in 1-800-NO-PAIN and everything would just suddenly feel better...too bad it's just a tad more complicated...

...and JUST IN CASE anyone thinks I'm fibbing in my quote, here's a LINK so ANYONE can check to make sure I'm not:
