I think the Nortel frenzy has shown the value of IDCC. The money has now turned to us,, and there's a lot of it out there.

I advise longs to hold if you can.

Count, interesting how our concerns are the same among all the bullish messages here. They crossed at nearly the same time!

Have the same observation. Giving the recent performance of IDCC it just became overweight in my portfolio.

I try to lighten my positions here.

Good advice, Count. How do you think this will play out?

Count, thanks. I'll paste your post at my fridge to remind me. Hard to make a decission right now after waiting for so long. There's always that doubt...but thank you very much for that needed advise.

Count,

I agree with your cautions, as I was there in the 1999-2000 run up
and down with this stock. I cant tell you how many times I kicked myself for not taking profits somewhere up in the 70's then. However, the Nortel auction has created a little different scenario
this time. Similar patents have been currently valued at 4.5B, and
any sale of IDCC has to be north of that. That values a share at $100 minimum. I think your cautions would be more applicable at that
level. It becomes speculative at that point, and one would have to
think about where to go from there using your well described caution. It would be great to hear from more longs on thoughtful exit strategies with this stock.

Very well said, Count. While I understand that no one gives a hoot about my personal exit strategy, I refuse to let this "once in a lifetime" opportunity slip away without taking some-to-a-decent-chunk off the table; hence I have been lightening up on the way up to 80. Yes, I will be leaving some on the table. So it goes. I've seen this stock get cut in half waaaaaaaayy too many times over the last 11 years. If the price goes to $150, with my previous "lightening" and holding a chunk for the "final ride" (hopefully), I will have done very well overall. Not as well as if I held it all to $150, but I need to be able to sleep at night, and I would have survived the risk of breaking all the "balanced portfolio rules" of having waaaaay too much of my networth in one stock. Continued good fortune to everyone!
