Thanks for taking the idea along the road some. If I recall correctly, the discussion of the evolution of the wing derives from Stephen Jay Gould, although my memory of his essay is that he talked more about dorsal flaps than feathers; and so maybe he was talking about the regulation of heat in insects rather than birds.

I know you are right re Darwin re the eye and the challenge. Progress isn't always linear. Random adaptation is circuitous. Sometimes it is hard to get there from here.

In terms of small steps towards TPM use, I thought the US government identity program looked a bit more like what I was hoping for. A very small conceptual step towards privacy and authentication, with a nice direction for Wave. But it seems that has faded into yet another geological timescale.

The management of SEDs also looks like a fairly simple proposition, but the price dynamics, the legacy equipment and presumably other factors are expressing themselves in the current rate of growth, which remains gentle.

I think Wave will get there. But I am unsure if its future is continued molasses, or a dam burst.
