Once your registry get's all messed up from adding and removing too many programs, adding or removing to many add ons or extensions to your browser, etc. etc. you almost have no option but to restore it to the factory settings if you experience problems every time you start your rig up.
That said, my sons machine developed some problems and I had to do a factory restore from the restore partition that comes with the machine right out of the box and it was the easiest restore I've ever done. It was WAY better than the older way they did things when they sent restore discs with the computer. So if your machine is a newer one that has that restore partition don't have any misgivings at all about doing it. It's a total breeze!!!!
