Look at your Device Manager and see if there is a yellow exclamation mark next to keyboard. If there is, you probably have a corrupt driver.

OK, go to Control Panel/System/Hardware/device manager and in the hardware list open the Keyboard icon and then uninstall the keyboard driver. Reboot the system when complete and let the machine replace the keyboard driver.

Have you looked closely at the plug to see if there are any missing pins??
