A settlement like you describe makes sense for both sides.
I agree that the short term market cap for IDCC would rise 2 1/2 times, but longer term I think it would be much higher, since these terms (assuming 3G royaltry rate is decent) would bring very high predictable earnings for IDCC.

IMO:We will never be privy to the contents of the Arbitration Award..but rather will hear about a IDCC/Nokia Settlement which will include a paid up 2G license, which provides for some $80 Million per year for 5 years, and a new 5 Year 3G license , with some $60 Million in true-up monies..and a cessation of all outstanding litigation. Nokia will expend only $140 Million in 2005 and IDCC's market cap. will increase some 2 1/2 times..
RE: mschere-Give us your best conjecture on settlement vs arb decision and what going to the wire is saying to you. Negotiations are often made as they say on the courthouse steps,and I think this no different-both sides can say they went to the last hour trying to get the best deal for their company.
