Can not survive in penny land beating yourself up with "could have, should have, would have". It's just part of the landscape and comes with the territory! Tighten up the belt and stick to a good solid plan and execute!
Why didn't I sell? In the past, like you I believed the pps would keep going up, not drop back down. After the last spike and decline I decided to change my strategy.
Today was the first time since then that the chance to double my investment occurred, however because I didn't know that a name change would automatically screw up all but etrade's ability to sell shares I was not able to sell my shares today to test my new strategy out.
