Interestingly, if I remember correctly, he was either leading or in second on Sunday when he hit into the pond in front of the green on the 9th, and settled for a double bogey that put him out of contention.
I think a part of the reason he skipped the Colonial was the tournament on the same weekend in Germany. He kept winning it, and therefore went back every year to defend his title. This year he's got Tiger Jam going on this weekend.
Of course, I'm not trying to discount that Tiger now picks and chooses his tourney's very carefully and the Colonial isn't designed to his preferences.
I'll be interested to see if he comes back to the Byron ever again? Especially if the old man dies soon.

I wouldn't mind seeing a course where the only time you needed a driver was on the 3 of the par 5s (assuming 4) and one of the par 3s . . . yes, that's what i said . . . i wouldn't mind seeing a 275+ yd par 3 . . . see what the grip it and rip it crowd thinks of that . . . and yes, i have played a course where i needed to hit driver on a par 3, some really long players could get there with a 3 wood . . . and yes, i did land it on the green and then 3 putted!$^#%

But that was a long time ago and in a galaxy far far away . . .
