You're wrong there...how else could a small company raise capital if no one knew about it?

A stock pump is good for both the company and its shareholders (save for the suckers buying the peaks) as it gives greater value to the shares, thus reducing dilution when the company needs to raise funds in the open market or setting a reference price for private placements.

If just 1/10th of the investor money "parked" on overpriced big companies selling at ridiculous P/E ratios were instead spent on financing small-cap and micro-cap companies, there would be far more reporting companies (aka OTCQBs instead of just Pinks) and the runs would be MUCH harder, not to mention the companies wouldn't blow up in six months due to lack of funding.
It also would help creating jobs.
