Don't be too hard on the Dell-heads in your family. 4 years into your Terminator and you are now set to spend about $150 to upgrade it into a W7 64 bit machine. They won't be able to pull that off.

Consider going with a Corsair solid state HD too. $200 and you will be impressed.
