texb, your post sent me looking for a "white paper"/"policy statement"/"PR bit"/i.e., "something" written by that same "Urho Ilmonen, Director Corporate Relations, Group Security, Nokia Corporation (Finland)" on a topic that I think I remember as being something along the lines of ~ "Policy considerations regarding Intellectual Property"(i.e., at Nokia corp in his "day job").
Pretty sure I remember seeing such a document posted here or somewhere, and thinking at the time that it was a sign of better times ahead for firms like IDCC. Tried every search criteria I could think of just now and got "nada".
Has me wondering if it got taken down because it said something like you cannot have it "both ways" with Intellectual property(i.e., either you respect IP and assign value, license, and pay for what you use but do not own, or you can forget about expecting others to assign value, license/cross-license, and pay you for what YOU DO OWN.) Or, maybe my memory of seeing something like that is just a wishful mirage.
It's easy to see why something like that would be a rather "sensitive" topic around the water coolers in Espoo these days. See your point. Our pal Urho appears to be in a very tight spot.
