The problem is, and has been, the trickling out of the news over a period of time and when the news event is finally completed and released, everyone has a Ho-Hum attitude saying 'yeah, we knew that'.

It's like standing on the railroad tracks with someone behind you saying over and over again, "the train is coming". You wouldn't/shouldn't be surprised when it finally hits you in the face.
