Mr. Ranger
My dad asked me to type the following:
First of all, I believe WM was somewhat constrained today because I believe a fierce fight has been brewing concerning the purchase and usage of new patents and products to compliment our existing IPR portfolio. I believe that the engineering side has been pushing for a value added company recognition game plan and that HG and probably HC have not been overly receptive on the idea because certain costs are naturally associated with same. I believe that WM has discovered the importance of the value added approach on his worldwide lcensing beat and he stood fully on the side of the CTO. I find this reasoning to be consistent because HG and HC have moved the company forward in the survival mode using what they had on hand. Compounding the problem of mixed feelings over the value added approach wss placing RT in the COO position while really being used to attempt to sell the street on the IDCC story. The COO position should have been the coordinator between the patent side and the value added side and RT just did not possess the ability or have any previous experience to be effective in that role.
It seems pretty clear to me that the new outside BOD members have convinced HC that the value added idea is for real and can be very beneficial in developing relationships along with licenses.
The reason that the COO position is not necessary is because our CTO's and our product man (Lemmo) are capable of handling the patenting and product side of the company. They will work hand and hand with the licensing side under WM and his replacement who I anticipate will be a fairly sharp old warhorse who can get his foot in the back doors of the bigger companies licensing areas.
I am very pleased with the change because I have advocated this all along. As a caveat, we do not want to get so sophisticated in our value added efforts to necessitate cross=licensing because the pure royalty business model will always produce the highest margins. I do believe that the new plan is all in agreement now and I am pleased that HC listened to the new directors and clearly has demonstrated that he can perform his BOD function with an open mind. HG and RT were supposedly his cronies and yet he has acted swiftly and directly once the Bod reached consensus.
I for one am relieved that WM was somewhat subdued this AM because I had some reservations about his tendency to appear on the hypish side. I believe all is well at KoP.
The above is my dad's opinion and he wishes everyone well.
Thank you
Connie
