Just a bit of advice I received years ago that happened to me.
I know e-trade kept all my shares in a margin accont and they could use to short or do anything they wanted to with them.
Please make sure your shares are listed in a CASH ACCOUNT.
I specifically asked them to do this and they did not.
After contacting FINRA they changed it.
Not positive they can do as they want, but don't take any chances.
Check with your brokers and make sure your stocks are listed as a CASH ACCOUNT.
