The EC never asked for anyone from PJS to testify. They were attempting to include some info--possibly from PJS, that remains to be seen--from their final presentation into the record. The judge disallowed this because it hadn't been previously submitted during the trial. (That is, such info can not legally be added to the record in closing arguments.)
I'm fairly certain that new exhibits not included in the objection can be submitted during the trial. If I'm not mistaken, the debtors did this just before closing arguments at the last confirmation hearing.
