David A. Janes



David A. Janes is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Janes Capital Partners, an Investment Banking Firm specializing in Mergers, Acquisitions and Private Equity investments in Manufacturing Companies, with offices located in Irvine, Los Angeles and San Diego CA

Prior to forming Janes Capital Partners in 1997, Mr. Janes was the CEO of California Manufacturing Enterprises (CME), a company he founded in 1977. CME, through its seven subsidiaries, manufactured a wide variety of industrial products such as, proprietary high temperature insulation components for gas turbine engines which are used in flight, naval and stationary power generation applications, safety restraints (seat belts) for civilian and military aircraft, aluminum structural components for airframes, aircraft galley equipment, and other aviation related products.

During the late 1990s, Mr. Janes divested his principal interest in all but two of his manufacturing companies and formed JCP. The remaining companies, Intri-Plex Technologies U.S. and Intri-Plex Technologies Thailand manufacture critical mechanical components for computer disc drives and heat dissipating substrate for computer chips. He is a principal investor and director.

Mr. Janes received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and was commissioned an Ensign in the Naval Reserve in 1959 at the University of Wisconsin. He immediately entered active duty and served onboard ships in the Atlantic Fleet during the period of 1959-1962. He is a graduate of Harvard University Kennedy School of Government Executive Course in National and International Security.

After leaving active duty in 1962, he began civilian employment as a Loan Officer trainee with the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank of St. Paul, Minnesota where he was promoted to Branch Manager of a Production Credit Association. In 1967, Mr. Janes left his position to pursue a full-time graduate education in Business Administration. He then joined United California (UCB), Los Angeles, as an officer in the Special Credits Division where he served initially as a credit analyst and loan work out officer. Prior to relocating to California in 1969, Mr. Janes also served as a city councilman and mayor pro-tem for the city of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. He also helped establish and served as Vice President of the Jaycees in his City.

During the period 1969 to 1977, Mr. Janes was promoted to Vice President and General Manager of First Interstate Bank’s (formerly United California Bank) Corporate Services Division, where he had over 800 employees assigned with responsibility for Cash Management, Remittance Banking and Information Systems.

He was the Chairman of the successful effort to rebuild the Newport Beach Boy Scout Sea Base, a $7 million project. He served on Newport Beach City’s General Plan Update Advisory Committee and as Chairman of its sub-committee which developed a 25 year Vision Statement for the City. He was recognized by the Boy Scouts of America with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award.

During his business career Mr. Janes maintained an active participation in the Naval Reserve and in 1994 retired as a two star Admiral. Over his 36 years of service, he has held numerous commands, including his most recent assignment as Commander Military Sealift Pacific and Far East. He also served as Special Assistant to the Director of the Naval Reserve for Nationwide Automation of Reserve Personnel Management.

Mr. Janes is an avid sailboat racer and competes in open ocean races and regattas and is the winner of the 2001 Trans Pacific Race in his class and the 2002 Pacific Cup Race from San Francisco to Hawaii.
