Now if it weren't for those damned insurance companies. Face it Medicare will probably sign off on the m-dyslipidemia indication, but Aetna and Blue Shield might hold out for an outcome study which shows survival benefits...I cite the LP-PLA2 (the PLAC Test) as a precident.

Right now IMHO the AHA still thinks EPA will not improve survival for CVDs when it is added to statins in the m-dys group. They missed the point in the JELIS that the cohort was not large enough to yield meaningful mortality figures...IMO a JELIS lkike trial using cheeseburger eating Americans and enough numbers will show that EPA when added to statins will not only lower the incidence of most of the CV "events" and raise none of them, but it will also improve survival in a stat sig amount...
