No. If what MW alleged was true and evidence of fraud, Starr's reliance on it does not help CCME. In tha case, CCME is a fraud and nothing can help it.

If what MW alleged was false, Starr's reliance on it would help CCME in defending itself against Starr, and CCME's case against MW would hinge on MW's intentions (good faith error vs. outright lies). Starr's reliance on MW is irrelevant to CCME's case against MW.

One theory as to why Starr relied on this crap is that Starr wants to portray itself as a victim of this situation, not a perpetrator. Thus, its NY lawsuit is merely grandstanding (while its HK arbitration is a grab for the jugular).
