Another thought. You'd think they would much prefer to assemble at Edwards. That would remove the biggest regulatory hurdle to the launch....the FAA. There must have been something really prohibitive in the prospective move to Edwards.

Hopefully, GTEL will explain the rationale in the next PR.

Fact: The strat will be disassembled and moved to edwards in large sections by truck. There it will be put back together and much very low level testing and fying will be conducted until NASA & the airforce approve of the flight...All this testing will be very important when they go to the FAA to get approval in commercial airspace....They need to know this vehicle can be controlled over populated areas

FACT Sans 2 will be built in palmdale, very close to edwards so getting it there won't be so intrusive.


WilliamRich, it must be that Palmdale is where the "new facilities near Edwards" is/will be located.
