The Top 5 I'm Buying....

... idea is doomed to fail IMO. Just think about it. We buy different things every single day. Every one of us do. Don't we already HAVE that? It's called "posts". Everyday, we mention if we buy something we like. There is no hope, IMO, that any coordinated, organized methodology exists for creating and compiling and keeping up with some "buy 5" scenario.

Nobody is buying 5 stocks at any given moment. At least not very many people and I speculate nobody on this board. HWeb, with as many as he owns, and recognizing that he buys a single stock multiple times and holds for shorter periods, MIGHT be the exception.

What might be better would be for us to post 5 stocks at any given moment that we WOULD buy and the price we would buy them at. I'm sure we are all watching stocks and have actual or mental buy prices. But, even that, I doubt will ever get off the ground - or be sustainable if it did.

I'm not saying the top 10 that we hold is all that great either - for the reasons others have mentioned. But, if you hold a stock, it does mean something. And, we all hold stocks at any given moment and those can/do represent what we (as a group) are invested in.

Anyway, whatever the board decides is fine by me. I'm just predicting right now that any "buy 5" will never be sustainable. Of course, that is just my opinion.

Bob, A "Top 5" for me is a tricky situation. I'm sitting on 36% cash, basically waiting for situations with definitive news or a sense momentum developing. These are rare. That doesn't stop me from nibbling away on various stuff though; just because it feels right :) Here's some of that variety, at least for today:

1. EZEN.ob (at 2)
2. PDGE,ob (at 1.5)
3. BOCX.pk (at 1.5)

Also, slow accumulation here (not today):

4. DCTH (around 2)
5. CPTC.ob (around here, maybe)

I like the idea of the five I would buy now. Definitely more important to me than ten most held.

Top 5 to Buy; I like the idea, and it's pretty easy for me.
I know that you already know my:
#1 = TVIN buy it if you don't own it; I'm hugely loaded on TVIN (and very comfortable holding it) and I'll accumulate more in $4.80 - $4.95 range.
#2 = EZEN buy anytime under $2
#3 = MSFT (ok, not quite a Microcap; more of a Moneymarket account for me)

Additionally, beyond the favorable price points for more accumulation, I'll buy these in a flash on any hint of news or momentum. The base is solid so the trend is entirely towards appreciation.

That's all; sorry if there aren't 5 of interest to me.
You've heard Warren's words before "Diversification is a protection against ignorance." He'll also critique the folly of the tendency to be impatient and simply plug in (waste a reserve of available cash) just to be "in the game." I've found getting into and accumulating "sure things / no brainers" to provide magnificent gains. And, if they can be long term and taxed at 15%, so much the better.

I am interested in other's Top 5s and the DD that will come to be posted about them. I do believe that there are more than 2 worthwhile value microcaps that fit my criteria, so I'm looking forward to checking out your strong ones.

I have to thank Bobwins for support when I was exploring EZEN and then I'll credit mostly my own DD and timing. I realize that many are nervous on EZEN at this price level; it could drop briefly and that's a buying opportunity. It could also easily go on a magnificent run anytime soon. Reward vs risk is very high; and EZEN is a comfortable long term holding (ie confident it will recover promptly from any setback). Do your own DD it's very simple and clean re EZEN.

Almost without fail when I post confidently and openly like this the stocks will drop; so look for a great buying opportunity tomorrow. Also, they quickly come back; hence, you have my post and I'll watch for the buying opportunity as well.

I feel that we can benefit from these Top 5s we're buying more than the Top 10 holdings as I think we see a lot of "hold and hope" in the portfolios while the current finds & news have a lot more potential as investments.

You've got mine (together with a completely open book); I hope you agree that it's a workable idea.

Happy investing!
