Protocom remains a leading technology provider of host single sign-on software

Sacramento, CA. USA; and Canberra, Australia, December 8 2004 – Protocom Development Systems today announced that leading IT market research and advisory firm IDC has acknowledged Protocom as a revenue leader in host single sign-on in the report, titled Worldwide Identity and Access Management 2004-2008 Forecast and 2003 Vendor Shares: The Death of Security 3A, Part I, released in November 2004 (IDC # 31997).

The IDC report confirms that Protocom’s single sign-on technology and products are among the leaders in the sector. According to IDC, Protocom held the number three position in the host single sign-on market with 15.0% share in 2003. In addition, Protocom developed technology is licensed to OEM Partner Novell, the market leader with a share of 18.9%.

“IDC once again confirms Protocom’s technology leadership in the host single sign-on market space. This is reinforced by the large number of leading enterprises that have benefited from the enhanced security and reduced credential management overheads as a result of deploying Protocom technology over the last 12 months”, said Jason Hart, Protocom CEO. “Protocom technology continues to lead growth and development, and innovation in this space. In a market that is becoming increasingly competitive, Protocom and key partner Novell are investing heavily in R&D to ensure that its technology continues to meet customer needs and government regulatory requirements,” Hart said.

“Protocom’s leadership is based on two elements, its own position among the top three host single sign-on vendors as well as its technology contribution to the market leader,” according to Chris Christiansen, Vice President of IDC’s Security Products and Services programs.

Host single sign-on is a critical component of the growing Identity and Access Management (IAM) market. According to the IDC report, the host single sign-on sector, which generated US$123.3 million in revenue in 2003 and accounted for 6.1% of total Identity Access Management (IAM) revenue, is expected to grow at a combined average growth rate of 9.4% to 2008.

IDC pointed to organizations consolidating identity information across the enterprise and the increasing scope of regulatory compliance as two of the main drivers in the growth of the IAM industry. In particular, the IAM market’s expansion was spurred by enterprises looking to reduce network complexity and costs through the consolidation of their identity information across the enterprise.

Protocom SecureLogin® Single Sign-On provides cross platform, directory-based single sign-on to virtually all Windows, Java, custom, and mainframe target systems as well as intranet and Internet sites. Easily deployed, SecureLogin® Single Sign-On features powerful wizard functionality to easily enable new applications for customers, and complex or multi step application logins can be enabled using the powerful proprietary scripting language. As a side note, I was at a meeting yesterday where I learned that EDS now exclusively uses Dell computers (desktops and lap tops) for their business. However it wasn't appropriate to ask whether they were incorporating the TPM machines and functionality into their security paradigm.
