If that's the case, it seems to indicate a flawed trial design. How would the FDA be expected to view favorably, "hard to interpret" trial data and come to any positive conclusion if the designers of the trial find the interpretation of data to be difficult??

Do you really know for a fact that the data from this small trial requires special, previously unanticipated analytical software to make sense of the data???????

a spreadsheet is not enough to analyze 20 person-worth of data? you've got to be kidding.
