SUNW is not on the radar...

SUN is not on the radar because they TRULY don't "get it".

They've had so many problems with restoring their company to profitablity and figuring out how to compete with Linux that they just have put NO BRAINSPACE against this topic.

I used to follow Sun with great anticipation... when they were the initial force behind the Liberty Alliance... back in the days when Liberty Alliance meant "Anybody But Microsoft"... and the effort was positioned as the anti-PASSPORT approach to federated identity.

But, time and time again, though presented opportunities to understand trusted computing, they don't ACT on it in significant ways.

There are of course REASONS for this. Sun is not a PC manufacturer. (I mean, they've thought about getting into that arena, but never decided to go that route.) Their Solaris offerings and Java software are just not RIPE for head-on, straightforward adoption of Trusted Computing.

In the words of Lark Allen from a CMU event some three years ago now, "Chris, they're server guys."

Best Regards,

Buffet

Sun is a founding member of Liberty Alliance.
Sometimes I wonder why you bother with us?

You know everything and the folks here who have been living and dying every aspect of this dream for years know nothing?
