barge

maybe Wave is in the political sweetspot wherein both ARMHY and INTC are using them.

Why not? After all, Wave isn't tryin' to choose sides. Remember the ole adage:

Wave doesn't make the end product. Wave only makes the end product work much better.

Dell realizes this and chose Wave
Intel realizes this and chose Wave

and so on..............

I think ARMHY/TrustZone will choose Wave too.

Barge: I agree with you that our outlook on this investment should change if Wave's IP and Firmware are not part of Trustzone. I personally believe it's a lock. The tech is virtually the same (the root of trust) in Trustzone, SEM, Lagrand, and ultimately NSCB. New technologies are mirroring this same root of trust (quallcom). Wave's history with Trusted Logic is another STRONG indicator that we are in bed with Trustzone. Let's remember from your countless posts over the last how many years.... Trusted computing is all about making all digital devices INTEROPERABLE. ARM and TCG have already announced coming together on a common interface making all trusted application interoperable between both spaces. AWK ties this together with his post yesterday:

Intel's WTP...

It is, of course, no surprise that we have not heard anything official regarding the compliance of the Intel Trusted Wireless Platform Module.

First, one has to consider that the TCG has not yet issued an official Mobile specification. Hence, nobody is going to tie them officially together.

Second, at the recent 3GSM exibition in Cannes, France it became very lear that the xScale "Bulverde" processor features a secure execution environment like "TrustZone". This was corroborated by some articles that stated that Orange ported their middle ware to the "Bulverde" processor. And xScale is based on ARM IP.

When everything is said and done we will all see that the Intel Wireless Trusted Platform Module will be code compatible to "TrustZone" and will conform fully to the TCG wireless specifications yet to be made public.

You heard it here first!

I have personally been barking on this board about how significant Wave's CSP would be in terms of developing applications for the ENTIRE trusted computing space since Wave first announced their CSP. I believe what you so clearly implicated in your following post:

Doma--CSP has always been essentially irrelevant until you actually begin deploying TPMs into the marketplace in large numbers. Which is going to happen in accelerating spurts this year with TPM 1.1 and TPM 1.2. When Longhorn is introduced the TPM floodgates will break open with a horrific roar and deluge the whole damn computing world in TPMs!!!! No doubt about it!!

The key thing is that while the WAVE CSPs are Interoperable the server side EMBASSY TAN will be PROPRIETARY! Which is going to give Dell and Intel the ability to strong arm the TPM user to REGISTER with an Embassy TAN for basic TPM Utility Services.

The Embassy TAN, of course, is a critical component of the Trust Infrastructure that Awk has been talking about with increasing frequency for a while. So what are the implications of INTEL and DELL embracing WAVE's CSP? The implications are quite staggering, to say the least! INTEL and DELL, with the support of MS, will rather quickly create a critical mass of REGISTERED EMBASSY TAN USER

I would only take this a step further and claim that Wave's CSP "will create a critical mass of REGISTERED EMBASSY TAN USERS" NOT ONLY FOR THE TCG BUT FOR ARM AND EVERYTHING ELSE TRUSTED THAT COMES ALONG THE WAY.

I'm sure i'll get pushback on this AGAIN as I did last year when I claimed this but what the hell huh? Life is short. Life is good.
