You are wrong. I personally know better. (And I will not go further).
The timing was purely coincidental, and they had no knowledge (as we didn't) that the ER report would be what it was.
Being on the EC is a huge personal/family drain, and huge financial drain (non-compensated position) -- and this case has drug on. You could only imagine what an employer has been saying to these common people about their profound commitment in time to this case.
Please stop with your assumptions. Had the ER report gone the other way, you would be speculating the opposite direction.
