#18020 RE: triton #18009

Once again MVSN goes about it the wrong way IMO!

MVSN is basically telling consumers to forget about making backup copies, which is very important to many people. MVSN attempted this in the past with audio copy protection by using SafeAudio, which they latter abandoned.

I am not sure how Sunncomm's DVD copy protection will work but I hope it allows consumers to make a limited amount of back up copies legally (I personally need this because my kids get a hold of DVD's and somehow destroy them when I am not looking!!).

The company 321 studios attempted giving consumers the ability to make backup copies, and were successful at first, but their solution did not limit the amount of copies you could make, nor did they look for the Entertainment industries blessing first. If Sunncomm's Secure Burn functionality gets the industries blessing and still allows legal copies to be made it would be extremely positive news for Sunncomm IMO.
