Some comparison rates from UCSF Center for Reproductive Health:

What percentage of embryos will grow to the blastocyst stage in culture?

For younger patients, up to 50% of all embryos will continue to grow to the blastocyst stage. However, 10% of patients will not have an opportunity for embryo transfer due to the absence of blastocyst development. As patients get older, fewer and fewer numbers of embryos are capable of developing in culture to the blastocyst stage.

EDIT: This is of course for IVF purposes.

rumit,

some good points. I am guilty in my post of using the word "destroyed" when I should have been using the words "destroyed or harmed". The points you made are relevant and ACT has mentioned the PGD process many times. I believe this post by louisa sums up what I was trying to say regarding WHY the NED situation has not been implemented prior. Does the NED process HARM embryos? Thanks for the points you made.

Over 3000 healthy children have undergone the medical procedure, PGD, which is at the core of ACTC’s technology.
