BATON ROUGE (WVLA) --Don't let the bed bugs bite isn't just a saying anymore.

Exterminators in Baton Rouge say, calls about the pests are up, and once the bugs get inside your home, it's a battle to get them out.

Bed bugs like to hang out in dark places--that means anywhere from your mattress to the cracks and crevices of your sofa.

Bug experts say, record numbers of customers are calling in to remove the pests, but the bugs don't go down easy.

While they may start in your bed, the bugs travel fast--making their way into other furniture and clothing.

Exterminators say, It could take two to three treatments to get rid of the pests.
