#68030 RE: barge #68022

Barge... My goal is not to be convincing...

If such apocrypha as the tale that Gates and Sprague have carved up the world MEETS with your enthusiastic and gleeful support, which of course it does, surely you can allow me quite a bit of, uhhh, LATITUDE when it comes to the REALITY that ONE of the reasons that the TCPA got re-jiggered was because of the NECESSITY to get from under Microsoft's VETO.

That's just ONE of the uncomfortable facts.

Here's another, if the TCPA/TCG has, all along, just been a creature of the Sprague/Gates shadow play, then how on earth can you begin to explain Steven's remarks during the PUBLIC portion of the most recent SHM in response to my question?

I asked him a fairly tough question. It wasn't a high-and-inside fast ball, though. And his response included elements of a self-critique: he had MISSED how quickly IBM would adopt the TCPA. He had underestimated the speed with which one player accelerated its trusted computing plans.

That's what HE said. He should know. Oh, I know, I know, he was using code words that folks like me who are NOT members of the Tri-Lateral Commission could NEVER understand. Such is life. I realize that there's a "gangsta rap"-izzle that's been happening between Gates and Sprague for years. My ear just can't catch it. :)

But, given the neo-Yalta theory, you might have thought that Steven and Bill would have figured all that IBM ESS, millions of machines stuff out. (Oh, and I'm not saying that the THEORY isn't attractive. I mean, if EVER there were a theory that would warm the cockles of our hearts and feed the furnaces of our financial desires, it's that one. It's the far-more sophisticated equivalent of a headline on the National Enquirer that asserts, "Man Loses 50 Pounds by Eathing Only Ice Cream and Pizza.")

Bottom line: As I said, it's not my great fear that Microsoft takes "us" out or takes us over. NEVER SAID THAT, though one can of course play loose with what I said. Not MY fear, may well be others. But, if you've really looked at their culture and court papers and patents and such for years, what you see is a PATTERN of behavior. And it pays to be cautious. Intertrust made them pay. That's NOT the norm.

And, Barge, the CAUTIOUS on ANY stock message board for any public company are never convincing. It is not with caution that Henry inspired the troops "once more into the breach." But, thankfully, Wave's PRESENT allows for some breathing room. We all deserve that after this long slog. VANILLA is served.

Best Regards,
