Its been a valid issue for some time.

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=are-hybrid-cars-too-quiet

They're gonna add an artificial engine noise so people can hear cars coming.

One of the reasons I bought Tesla stock in National Security, made in America, does not run on foreign oil.

My two best stocks for 2010:

TSLA & SYNM.

Greassymoney, You obviously have never driven a Tesla. However, I have.

As you're driving down the road you can notice people visibly startled that a car has moved next to them. This thing is so God damn quiet, one could easily assume this was wind blowing in thier direction AND WALK OUT IN FRONT OF IT.

This is a MAJOR problem...it is a product liability case in the making! Seriously, that is why I flew to California and persoanlly tested the product. I had NO IDEA this would be an area of concern. And obviously neither did you!

Like I said in the last post it seems wonderful as you hear it whisk down the road--nice and quiet-- like gentle air blowing on a cool night. But in broad daylight people step out in front of these Tesla cars like you wouldn't believe! I did, and so did many students at Sac State Campus where I flew to go see the car!

Take it for what it is greasy...this car is light years from a four banger in exhaust volume...there is NO EXHAUST what-so-ever! The electric motor is not a griding wheel--It is a perfectly engineered rotation with ZERO SOUND! Roll a wheel down your driveway by itself and you have heard a Tesla. DANGEROUS with a capital D!

Until you drive one or walk down the road by one you may have trouble grasping just how dangerously quiet these cars really are!

WB

HERETOFORE is my persoanal opinion, So take it for what it's worth...nothing!

Talked to our forklift (from truck lease company) mechanic at work. We have both gas and electric forklifts. He was here working on a gas forklift. I asked him how he compared the two (he works on both). He said the same thing about you can't hear them coming. He also said, "He likes to be able to hear what is wrong with them."

Go figure!

He also said he can't say much about comparing the two, since he has not worked on any of the electric lifts since they have been here (about 3 years). What does that tell you?

These electric lifts are going strong and contiuously run all shift without additional charge.
